JACKSON, Miss.-- An afternoon walk to the soccer field Monday ended badly for one Jackson teen.
According to police a 14-year-old boy was struck by a bullet in the knee.
Officer Colendula Green said, "Our investigation says he was walking with friends to attend a soccer game when shots rang out. This 14-year-old was struck by a stray bullet."
Green says the bullet wasn't meant for him though.
"He wasn't the intended target."
Apparently there was an altercation between two men in the area when shots were fired and hit the teen on accident.
Green says police are still searching for the suspects and no arrests have been made in the on-going investigation.
He was taken to University Medical Center with non-life-threating injuries and his condition is unknown.
A name was not immediately released for the victim.
