COPIAH COUNTY, Miss. -- There's been a horrible accident involving a grandmother and her three young grandchildren. “It’s just a sad, sad loss,” said Corporal Otis Easterling with the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
He explained to News Mississippi what happened around 8 a.m. today on Highway 27 and Lee Avenue. “There was a red car that attempted to cross over the intersection – had a driver and three children in it. And there was an 18-wheeler going south on Highway 27 that struck the vehicle on the side.
Everyone in the car is now dead. “Sixty-seven-year-old Anita Teasley of Crystal Springs, and three children - 3-year-old Gunner Tompkins, 15-month-old Makenna Teasley and 6-year-old Gavin Tompkins.” Easterling says only one child was buckled up.
The driver of the rig, Anthony Jackson, was not hurt. This crash remains under investigation.
