Back in the summer, Attorney General Jim Hood created the Mississippi Foreclosure Prevention Consortium. That group is now getting ready to hold town hall meetings across the state “to get the world out to people that you may be eligible to receive restitution back if you did business with one of the five national banks,” explained Hood.
Hood says this is funded through a multi-million dollar national mortgage settlement that is also paying to help you even if you were not subjected to mortgage fraud and abuse, but are still facing general mortgage problems. “”So we are inviting everybody, whether you did business with one of the five major banks or not, you are welcome to come to these. And you will have legal advice and financial counselors there to help you.”
The Consortium includes members of the Attorney General’s office, the Mississippi Center for Justice and others. Their town hall meetings will be held in the following locations:
