Weekend Shootings Leave One Dead in Yazoo Cafe



YAZOO CITY, Miss.--A Friday shooting left business owner Horrance Johnson dead inside his Yazoo City cafe. The 74-year-old ran Fannie's Cafe' on West Madison St. Witnesses told police there was an argument between Johnson and Clifton Ward, a customer and one-time worker there.

Even though the place was crowded, about 9:30 p.m. the argument turned deadly when the 58-year-old shot Johnson in the neck, while the crowd looked on, witnesses said. He then took off on foot. He was captured a few blocks away. 

Ward is being charged with murder. Johnson's son was also killed at the cafe in the 90s, some family members told WAPT.

In Claiborne County, 38-year-old Ivory Anderson was killed near the Henry Lee Club about 2 a.m. Saturday. Another person was also shot, but is expected to make it.

The sheriff there told WJTV Anderson was a bystander and was shot as he was getting ready to leave the club. One person is being questioned.

In Harrison County, a retired Army vet was injured in a shooting near Keesler Air Force Base at the base's "Fam-Camp". Details on the shooting were sparse as police continued to interview witnesses. The shooting happened Sunday morning. The Fam-Camp is an RV park open to active and retired personnel and family.
