JACKSON, Miss.—Many of you are or will be traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, and as you may have guessed, you will not be alone.
“The vast majority of folks, about 90 plus percent will be traveling by motor vehicle, and they will account for about 39 million of the folks that are going to be out and about. Air travel will amount to about 3.1 million people. Motor vehicle travel will up about six tenths of one percent compared to what we saw last year in 2011,” says Mike Right Vice President of Public Affairs for AAA.”
Although more people will be out on the roads this year, Right tells me gas prices are down in Mississippi from where they were this time last year.
“Throughout Mississippi we have a state wide average of $3.17, that is down two cents from this time last year.”
Right also says gas prices have come down dramatically in just this past month.
