Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley told media it was unclear who was driving. He said the wreck happened about 1:15 when the vehicle, which belonged to Jones, was northbound on Hwy. 45. When the driver lost control, the car crossed the median, flipping over in the southbound lane.
Jones was found by a bystander and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other person, whose name was not released, was airlifted to a Tupelo hospital.
The investigation is being handled by Gurley's office and the Aberdeen Police Dept.
