The town hall style clinics are sponsored by Attorney General Jim Hood’s office. “I’ll be at some of them,” said Hood. “It will be The Mississippi Center for Justice; several different groups that make up the consortium that we put together (this past summer).”
The Mississippi Foreclosure Prevention Consortium is funded by a nationwide settlement with the five largest mortgage providers. Hood says they want to get the word out that anyone who did business with those providers may quality for restitution. “But what’s more important is that money from that settlement has gone to fund legal advice and things like that to people who just have problems with their mortgage in general,” explained Hood.
