WASHINGTON, D.C.--Mississippi's wisdom is needed so the feds can do a better job helping areas hard hit by Hurricane Sandy to recover. Miss. Emergency Management Agency Executive Director Robert Latham was expected to testify before the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
A statement we got from MEMA said Latham's topic would be “A Review of the Preparedness, Response to and Recovery from Hurricane Sandy.” The committee was set to hear testimony from Latham on the best practices for recovery from Hurricane Katrina.
Latham’s testimony will focus on overall response and recovery strategies, and the challenges of recovery following a catastrophic disaster.
MEMA had hands-on experience in Katrina and Sandy, sending officials to help with logistics in the recovery process and the hurricane approached the northeast earlier this year.
