Former Lt. Governor Amy Tuck says there are so many reasons why you should be proud to call Mississippi home. “We have a lot of accomplishments. And, we have great Mississippians that have made long lasting contributions that have impacted millions across our state, and our nation.”
Tuck was the guest speaker at the fourth Annual Statehood Day Celebration at the Old Capitol Museum in Jackson today. She talked a lot to students about some of those Mississippians, including the late NFL great, Walter Payton and slain NAACP leader Medgar Evers.
“So I hope that they will see the great things that Mississippi has to represent. And that they will, as they grow up, stay in Mississippi and continue to work to make it better.”
That birthday celebration ended of course, with cookies, cake and punch.
