Rankin County Sheriff, Bryan Bailey, says they received a 911 call from one the plane’s passengers after the crash and were able to get GPS coordinates to find them. Neighbors at a subdivision near the crash site supplied a Jeep and ATVs to help find locate passengers. Deputies were able to make to the crash site after about 30 minutes.
Bailey says the plane was an experimental aircraft, much resembling a biplane and believes the plane hit a treetop before it crashed.
The pilot did suffer from broken bones and lacerations but is now in a local hospital. The passenger was unharmed. As of now the names of the individuals have not been released.
