JACKSON, Miss.--It's 12-12-12, a date that comes only once. About 7,500 were expected to get married in the world today, but Mississippi's Salvation Army told us there's another way to celebrate. That's to donate.

We talked with Capt. Ken Chapman.

"We'd like for 12,000 Mississippians to donate $12 in one of our red kettles," he said.

The donations go to help needy families. Many are donating because it's the holiday season. If 12,000 people donate $12, the Salvation Army will raise $144,000 today.
