Gunn Found Guilty of Capital Murder-Case Stretched Several Counties

JACKSON, Miss.--Twenty-five year-old Bennie Gunn will likely spend the rest of his life in jail after a capital murder conviction Wednesday in Hinds County Court. That was for the 2010 killing of delivery man William Morris.

A witness in the case said she was stabbed and threatened.

Gunn was already sentenced to 45 years for what happened after Gunn and his accomplices fled to Philadelphia where they stole a car and flipped it near the Golden Moon casino after a police chase. Gunn then stole a work truck from the casino and fled to Carthage before being caught.

All three people involved had a history of violent crimes.

The accomplices have pled guilty and gotten their prison sentences. They are 20-year-old Dante Evans of Jackson and 27-year-old Chasity Davis of Lena, in Leake County. Davis was charged with armed robbery before being involved in the 2010 incident. Davis was also charged with conspiracy in that case.
