JACKSON, Miss.-- Gas price in the state have dropped almost ten cents in the last week on average.
One might think with the holidays upon us that gas prices might actually rise.
Don Redman, spokesman for AAA, says that's not true.
"Well this is the typical time of the year for prices to start falling when we get into December, January, and February."
He said the lower demand during the cold months coupled with a currently healthy supply has dropped prices over the last couple of weeks.
The average price in the state for a gallon of gas according to www.gasbuddy.com on Thursday was $3.08.
"In fact we starting recording some service stations in the state below 3 dollars per gallon over a month ago," added Redman.
We wanted to know whether this was a temporary drop in price or could we see this trend continue.
Redman stated, "We expect those prices to continue to drop."
That's good news for pocketbooks around the state as we approach 2013 quickly.
