JACKSON, Miss.--Strong to severe storms are possible this weekend across portions of the state as two weather disturbances move into the area. Temperatures will be mild.
We spoke with National Weather Service Meteorologist Dan Byrd.
"It's gonna get into the low 60s for the most part. Lows tonight are gonna be a bit warmer than we've been seeing," he said, "mid 40s to 50s, depending on what part of the state you're in."
He said rain chances begin in the Delta counties and north Mississippi Friday night, then stretch down into the central part of the state for Saturday.
"Some of those storms Saturday could be strong to severe. Then once again on Sunday a disturbance moves through, then a cold front and we'll see another round of strong to severe storms."
He said temperatures will be near 70 both Saturday and Sunday and won't cool down much, even after the cold front moves through.
South Mississippi can look for rain and storms to last through Monday.
