Hit and Run Suspect Turns Herself Back Into Police

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. -- The Search for Lisa Sanchez is over.

The Biloxi woman turned herself back into Ocean Springs police Wednesday morning to faces upgraded charges in an alleged DUI related hit and run accident.  “Due to the nature of the injuries of the victim, the charges have been upgraded to the felony," said Ocean Springs Police Capt. William Jackson.

He would not release the pedestrian’s name, but says she is in stable condition at a local hospital.  “She’s going to be there for a while.  She’s going to need reconstructive surgery on her face.  She’s probably going to need multiple surgeries on her back.  She’s got like five broken vertebrates in her back and spin, and other multiple injuries in her wrist and knees," Jackson explained.

Sanchez bonded out of jail on the misdemeanor charges Sunday.  She now faces a bond hearing for the upgraded felony charge.
