MERIDIAN, Miss. – A Meridian gang threatens to kill a local officer before the end of the year. Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie says a Facebook post made by Detective Don Hopkins with the Meridian Police Department is what brought light to the threat.
 
“Hopefully our staff is trained well enough, equipped well enough, and prepared for whatever comes our way, be it announced, or unannounced,” says Sollie.
 
The sheriff says he has not received a threat himself but says authorities have been hearing rumors about these threats for a couple of weeks.
 
According to television station WTOK the threat is attributed to gang members who killed a 21-year-old man at a nightclub Christmas night.
