JACKSON, Miss. -- Some of you may have plans to bring in the New Year, but you may want to keep an eye out on the weather. National Weather Service Meteorologist Chad Entremont said light rain from east Texas will continue to build up and spread our way. It should cover Mississippi by midnight.
“Initially it is going to start out pretty light as it comes in from the west, but then its going to become moderate to even heavy,” said Entremont.
The entire state is expected to see at least an inch of rain and wet conditions should increase throughout New Years Day. That rain should begin to move out of the state by that evening.
Entremont also says rivers and creeks that are still swollen from last week’s downpour will continue to remain high but no flooding is expected.
