JACKSON, Miss. – More than 100 additional state troopers are patrolling Mississippi roadways today. And they have one main goal in mind. “We’re hopeful that if we save one life, that’s a positive,” said Highway Patrol Spokesperson Warren Strain.
He tells me that those extra troopers are spread out statewide. “And they will use several different techniques, law enforcement techniques, such as check points and that type thing.”
They are looking for all traffic lawbreakers. But mainly those that drink and drive. “Last New Year’s Ever the Highway Patrol made right at 100 DUI arrest,” he said.
This extra enforcement is part of the nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign.”
