Rains to Keep River Flood Warnings in Place

JACKSON, Miss.--Several river flood warnings issued after heavy rains last week were expected to be reinforced by steady rains state-wide on New Year's Day. Tweets from the National Weather Service said flood warnings will continue for the Yalobousha River at Whaley and for Talahalla Creek at Laurel.

Also expected to continue were flood warnings for the Pearl River near Philadelphia and for the Big Black River at West, Bentonia and Bovina.

All those rivers and creeks were at or near flood stage and were expected to rise as rains continue.
