JACKSON, Miss. -- On your mark, get set, its time for the sixth annual Mississippi Blues Marathon.
And organizers say this Saturday’s race is the biggest one yet with about 3,000 runners from 37 states and 10 counties signed up to compete. “Our wheel chair racers will began the race at ten minutes to seven and at seven the main filed of runners will go out on the course,” said Marathon Co-Director John Sewell.
Runners will compete in either a marathon, half marathon or team relay. “The overall male and female winners will each receive $4,000. If they break the course record, that’s an additional thousand dollars. And they each get a really cool blues guitar,” he said.
The race takes place in downtown Jackson and includes live blues music.
