LEXINGTON, Miss.--Antywon Terry is back in jail after his Friday capture in Lexington. Holmes County Sheriff Willie March said it was because of widespread media coverage that a tip came in, leading to Terry's re-arrest.
Terry was originally arrested New Year's Eve, according to March. He said Lexington Police charged him with DUI after he slammed his vehicle, a black Pontiac Grand Am, into a patrol car.
"And the police took him from the Sheriff's Dept. up to their jail to interview him and do some paperwork on him," March said. "At that time, Antywon escaped from the Police Dept. He went to where he car was towed by the wrecker service. He stole his car from the wrecker service and tore down a fence surrounding the lot."
March said Terry is now charged with auto theft, even though it was his own car he stole.
March said it was having Terry's description out to the public that led to him being caught.
"It was put on the news that he escaped and he was arrested on a Crimestoppers tip at his neighbors house," he said.
