You May Have a Tax Deadline to Meet This Week

JACKSON, Miss. -- The IRS gave tax relief to some of you affected by Hurricane Isaac on September 5 of last year.

“That did include individuals and also corporations and businesses that had a due date after August 26, 2012,” said IRS – Mississippi Media Director Dee Harris Stepter.

That due date was to file your federal 2011 taxes.  That relief is now just about up.  Harris Stepter says you have until this Friday to get those documents filed.  “Anyone needing to file a return would need to submit that return on paper because the deadline to file electronically was October 15.”

And Harris Stepter said it’s important that you properly flag your return.  “ Put Hurricane Isaac on the top of that tax return,” she said.
Those living in the 17 Mississippi counties declared federal disaster areas as a result of Hurricane Isaac qualified for that extension.
