Father of Five Children Killed to Face Grand Jury

CHOCTAW, Miss.--Duane John will face the next Neshoba County grand jury on DUI manslaughter charges. News Mississippi affiliate 98.3 The Groove reports Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell said Monday that John is still in jail on a $150,000 bond following the drowning deaths of six people, including five of his own children.

The wreck happened early Saturday, Dec. 28, when an SUV driven by John left a county road about 20 miles southeast of Philadelphia and plaunged into a swollen creek. Dead were 9-year-old Daisyanna John, 8-year-old Duane John, 7-year-old Bobby John, 4-year-old Quinton John, and 18-month-old Kekambas John. Family friend Diane Chickaway, 37, also died.

The father and mother survived, as did Chickaway's husband.

John also suffered from drowning but recovered and was arrested when he got out of the hospital.
