The driver was taken to University Medical Center. He was expected to survive.
Authorities on the scene said cleanup would probably not be done before the morning rush hour commute and advised motorists traveling that way to take another route. The most likely alternative is the already-crowded Hwy. 51.
Several area fire departments were sent to battle the blaze. The Miss. Dept. of Environmental Quality, MEMA and the federal environmental authorities were on the scene, too.
