JACKSON Miss. – A teen shot by Jackson Police over the weekend is in custody, charged with aggravated assault on an officer. Officer Colendula Green with the Jackson Police Department says it happened Saturday night after police responded to a disturbance at a party.
“By the time we got on scene the crowd was on the outside of the establishment and we were there for crowd control, a subject began firing rounds at the police, and one of the officers exchanged fire with the suspect,” said Green.
Eighteen-year-old Pitrell Brister was shot and has since been released from the hospital. His initial court appearance was Monday where he was charged with aggravated assault on an officer. The officer involved is on paid administrative leave.
