Ice Situation Eases in the Delta-Advisories in Effect



GREENVILLE, Miss.--Though freezing rain was still possible as temps remained at the freezing mark in some parts of the Delta Wednesday morning, the ice storm warning was canceled. The national Weather Service instead issued a freezing rain advisory:

BOLIVAR-SUNFLOWER-LEFLORE-WASHINGTON-HUMPHREYS-ISSAQUENA-SHARKEY-
INCLUDING THE CITIES OF...CLEVELAND...INDIANOLA...RULEVILLE...GREENWOOD...GREENVILLE...
BELZONI...ISOLA...MAYERSVILLE...ROLLING FORK...ANGUILLA

While the situation was improving in the Delta, Oxford got a fair amount of frozen precip Tuesday evening. Other parts of northeast Mississippi were still experiencing some freezing rain, prompting some closings for Wednesday: Alcorn County Schools-Delayed until 9 a.m.; Corinth Academy of Cosmetology-closed; Fulton Head Start-opens at 10; Itawamba County Schools- Opening two hours late; Mantachie Early Head Start-opening at 10; Mantachie Head Start-opening at 10; South Tippah County Schools-closed; Spring Hill MB Church - Booneville-no services Wed. night; Tupelo Academy of Cosmetology-closed.

Temps were expected in the 40s for Thursday and in the mid 50s for Friday, eliminating any further threat for frozon precipitation.
