3 Abortion Protestors Pepper Sprayed Want to Press Charges

JACKSON Miss. -- Three protestors who were pepper sprayed outside of Mississippi's only abortion clinic say they are pressing charges against the security guard. Officer Colendula Green confirms among those sprayed were a 15-year-old and two adults. Reports identify the three as Doug Lane, Cal Zastrow and Zastrow’s son. They were sent to Baptist Hospital to be treated for injuries.

“Security Guard Turned on some sprinklers and began spraying them with the water hose, and at that time there was an altercation,” said Officer Green.

Police were called to the scene at the Jackson Women’s health organization around 9 a.m. The security guard has not been arrested, but could face three counts of simple assault after the victims take the proper measures.

Witnesses tell the Clarion Ledger that a protestor did trespass on property and the guard felt threatened when the altercation took place.

Groups from both sides of the abortion issue have been demonstrating outside the clinic this week. Tuesday marked the 40th Anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Courts Roe V. Wade decision.
