Mississippi Power Customers Won't Foot Entire Bill For Construction

JACKSON, Miss. -- The Mississippi Public Service Commission has reached an agreement with Mississippi Power, settling the lawsuit against their Kemper County Coal Plant.

The agreement limits the company from charging customers for the more than $2.8 billion construction project to only $2.4 billion.

The company also agrees to spread out rate increase over seven year periods and compensate customers if Southern Company is able to market their experimental carbon dioxide extracting technology at the plant.
