Two-Year-Old Dies After Four Car Pile-up

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss.--A two-year-old baby girl is dead and her mom has been cited for numerous violations in a four-car wreck on the coast. Coast media outlets are reporting Josalyn Anderson died late Thursday after being moved to intensive care.

The child was hurt when her mom was driving on Hwy. 90 about 5 Wednesday afternoon and turned around to say something to her daughter, who was not in a car seat, according to cops. That's when she hit the car in front of her, causing a chain reaction wreck. The girl was thrown into the front seat, where she hit the deployed air bag and flew back into the back seat.

The mom, 27-year-old Melanie Anderson, was charged with driving on a suspended license, no insurance, expired tag, no seat belt and no child restraint.

A blood sample has been sent to the state crime lab to determine if Anderson was on drugs.
