RANKIN COUNTY, Miss – A hot pursuit at two in the morning Sunday across three counties ended with an Alabama ex-con behind bars. A Rankin County deputy first tried to stop the driver who was traveling at over 100 miles an hour on i20 near the downtown Brandon exit. When the speedster got to Clinton he was able to weave away from spikes police had put in the road. Finally in Vicksburg, the suspect got out of the car and ran on foot after cops boxed him in.
Gavon Brandon, 29 from Boaz, Ala., now sits in the Rankin County jail. Police say he had no license, was drunk, and his vehicle was stolen. He had prior felony convictions and was recently released from a prison in Texas.
