MOSS POINT, Miss.--Richard Maples is back behind bars after a Saturday escape and a trip to the coast. The 22-year-old may be paying for his vacation with a possible five-year addition to his seven-year sentence he was already serving for identity theft, credit card fraud and burglary.
Maples was caught in Moss Point Monday night, according to a news release from the Dept. of Corrections. The arrest was about 10 p.m. during a traffic stop. The release credits the Dept. of Corrections, the Jackson County Sheriff's dept. and Ocean Springs Police with the capture. A news conference giving more details was expected on the coast Tuesday.
Maples got away from a community work center in McComb Saturday. Authorities released info about several unique tattoos, hoping the public would spot the Jones County native and turn him in.
