National Children’s Dental Health Month

JACKSON, Miss. --A lot of Mississippi kids have cavities, but there are things you can do to help improve their oral health.

The state’s dental director says that’s not always a good idea to let kids brush their teeth without your help.  “They really don’t have the manual disparity to do a great job until they are between like eight and 10.”

And even then, Dr. Dionne Richardson advises you double check behind them.  “Look for dark spots or discoloration that may lead to tooth decay, or the development of decay, or even plaque.”
Richardson says cavities can lead to other more serious health issues like heart disease and even death.  This is National Children’s Dental Health Month.
