BAY ST> LOUIS, Miss.--That little green Geico gecko was defrauded by a Bay St. Louis womsn, according to Atty. Gen. Jim Hood. Liberty Mutual lost money in the deal, too. Thirty-seven-year-old Dana Aikens got $2,200 from both companies after she filed an insurance claim when she had already been paid for the wreck.
Hood said she also was paid for a wreck that never happened. The scheme now has her indicted and in the Hancock county lock-up. She is also facing an unrelated armed robbery charge.
If convicted, Aikens faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines. As with all cases, Hood said, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
