Mississippi Woman to be First Lady Obama's Guest at State Of Union Tonight



WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The President delivers his State of the Union Address to the nation tonight; and a Pearl Mississippi woman will be there watching.

Amanda McMillan will be a guest of First Lady Michelle Obama and will sit in her box at the capitol. 

The president is expected to mention the gender discrimination case McMillan won against a Shaw grocery store in 2011 as part of his administration’s push to highlight women’s rights.

McMillan successfully sued Forrest City Grocery Company for $125,000 after her boss wouldn’t promote her to a higher paying sales job because she’s a woman.  The company also agreed to provide sexual discrimination training for its managers. 
It’s not a guarantee the President will bring up the case tonight in his speech; but McMillan says she hopes equal pay for women will continue to be someting he talks about and fights for
