Comcast To Buy The Rest Of NBC Universal

JACKSON, Miss. -- If you have cable in Mississippi, it’s likely you are a Comcast customer. You might even watch NBC.

Wednesday, in a surprise move, Comcast decied to buy out the remaining 49 percent of NBC Universal from General Electric. They will pay 16.6 billion dollars in cash and stock for the rest of the company. Comcast had purchased origional 51 percent of the company two years ago for a cheaper price.

Before Comcast was incorporated in 1969 in Pennsylvania it was formed in 1963 as the American Cable Systems in Tupelo, Mississippi.
