Winston Academy Trashed-Two Arrested
LOUISVILLE, Miss.--Expensive business machines, the trophy case, entire classrooms, all trashed by vandals. The wreckage was discovered Saturday at Winston Academy in Louisville. The same day, two young men were arrested, said by Police Chief L.M. Claiborne, to have done the trashing.
The two arrested were said to be from Nanih Waiya and attend the high school there.
Though police were not speculating publicly, the feeling through the community was that the students may have done it in retaliation for some earlier incident.
Claiborne told media that the two arrested would appear in court Monday.
Meanwhile, the damage at the school was so bad that students were not expected in class Monday. Damage may total out to as much as $200,000 or $300,000.
In addition to the afore mentioned damage, the gymnasium was covered with fire extinguisher foam, the boys and girls' locker rooms were trashed and numerous items were stolen, including flat panel TVs.
