McCOMB, Miss.--Accomodations at the Pike County Jail got tighter Tuesday as drug officers booked 20 into the lock-up. They were rounded up as part of OPERATION: Gone Shopping.
Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Dir. Marshal Fisher said the arrests are part of a six month investigation that led to warrants in southwest Mississippi and Louisiana. He said the operation got its name because all of the sales happened at a McComb shopping center.
They are a mobile group," said Fisher, "some with two or more known addresses."
He said the ones arrested Tuesday were considered low to mid-level drug dealers. And the drugs they had for sale-heroin, pot, crack and prescription narcotics like Xanax and Suboxone. More arrests are expected.
In addition to drug charges, some are facing conspiracy and child endangerment charges, too. Fisher said that's because minors were present at some of the deals and more than one person conducted some of the deals.
