The Oxford Film Festival Kicks Off Tonight

OXFORD, Miss. – Tonight only is free admission for the Tenth Annual Oxford Film Festival at the Lyric Theater in downtown Oxford. It kicks of with the Thacker Mountain Radio Podcast at 6 p.m. Then at 7 p.m. the festival crew will take over for their opening ceremony. During the ceremony several 90-second community films will be shown as well as a Joe York’s film “Ten,” a documentary about the joys and pains of being a 10-year-old, staring kids from the Oxford and Lafayette County area.

The festival lasts through Sunday and anybody should be able to find something to enjoy. Films at the fest rage from animation, experimental, Mississippi based music videos, documentaries, narratives, shorts, and features. They also have two spotlight features this year; Friday night is “Best Friends Forever” which premiered at the Slam Dance Film Festival, and on Saturday night is “This is Martin Bonner,” which won the Next Award at the Sundance film festival.
