COAHOMA COUNTY, Miss -- A dead body found in Coahoma County Wednesday morning has been identified as Marco McMillian, a 34-year-old mayoral candidate for the City of Clarksdale.
 
“His mother identified the body,” said Coroner Scotty Meredith.
 
Authorities began searching for McMillian Tuesday morning after his SUV was in involved in a wreck that sent two people to the hospital. McMillian was not part of that incident.
 
Police have a suspect is in custody. The Clarion Ledger identifies him as Lawrence Reed, 22, of Clarksdale.
 
McMillian's body was found over 10 miles west of Clarksdale at the base of the Mississippi River levee. The investigation is ongoing.
