MERIDIAN, Miss.—The state is putting over $600,000 in tax-forfeited properties up for sale in Meridian.
Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann was in the city Wednesday to talk about details of the auction.
“People will mail in their bids and we open them on March 23rd,” said Hosemann.
The highest bidder for each property will win that parcel.
“The reason this is important is because the state owns 11,000 properties.”
He listed two reasons the state wants to rid itself of them.
“First of all to get them on the tax roll again and a lot of these properties are cancers to their neighborhoods.”
