Traditionally the Board of Trustees of the Institutions for Higher Learning (IHL) names the preferred candidate as the permanent choice during the campus visit.
It's definitely not the first time LaForge has been on the campus following his graduation. This short bio is from the DSU website:
LaForge has enjoyed a distinguished career in the public and private sector as an attorney, lobbyist and educator. He is currently the principal of LaForge Government Relations in Washington, D.C.
LaForge's ties to Delta State run deep, as a honored graduate, son of a reknowned professor and tireless supporter of his alma mater. As a DSU alumnus, he has served as national president of the Delta State University Alumni Association and trustee of the Delta State University Foundation. He was selected Alumnus of the Year in 1992 and in 2007 was a charter member of the Delta State University Alumni Hall of Fame.
LaForge earned his law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law and he went on to receive an LL.M. from Georgetown University in international law.
He and his wife, Nancy, have two children, Caroline and Clayton.
