JACKSON, Miss.—Mississippi representative from the 4th district Steve Palazzo spoke in a radio interview Wednesday about the upcoming sequestration cuts set to automatically take place Friday.
He said he’s been working for the last year with other GOP members to try and avert these cuts.
“And solely for the purpose that 50% of the cuts are coming from our national defense,” said Palazzo.
Palazzo didn’t shy away from speaking about President Obama’s role in all of the politics going on now.
“The president has been AWOL. Absent With Out Leadership.”
Many workers around the country would be furloughed in the future if the automatic cuts set to start March 1st take place.
Palazzo said Democrats aren’t worried about the affects that such cuts could cause on the country.
“They are worried about politics and they’re not worried about people,” he said.
President Obama is set to meet Friday with political leaders but progress isn’t expected to be made on the $85 billion in cuts.
