GULFPORT, Miss. -- A 14-year-old boy now being charged as an adult after police say he robbed a Mexican restaurant over the weekend. According to Deputy Commander George Chaix when the waitress gave the boy his bill, he walked up to the counter, pulled out a small handgun and said, "I will take the money."
Restaurant employees alerted the authorities. Gulfport Police found the boy near Lupita's Mexican Restaurant shortly afterward with both the gun and stolen goods.
"Due to the nature of the crime he was charged as an adult, we're still not going to release his name because the courts may decide to remand it back to family court," said Chaix.
Police still are not sure how the boy obtained the gun and the investigation continues.
