Mississippi looks to be on track for a beautiful weekend, so it if you want to take a quick break from all those outdoor activities you have planned, here’s what’s new in theaters:
From the Rough, is an uplifting story about Catana Starks – the first African-American woman ever to coach an all-men’s team at the collegiate level. Despite many obstacles, she led the Tennessee State golf team made up of international, underprivileged athletes to a record championship. Starring Academy Award nominees Taraji P. Henson and Michael Clarke Duncan (his last feature before his untimely death), this movie looks to have a great message. It’s Rated PG and also stars Tom Felton from the Harry Potter films.
If you’re in the mood to laugh, The Other Woman is a new comedy starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and supermodel Kate Upton. A woman finds out her boyfriend is married and teams up with his wife and ANOTHER girlfriend they learn of to plot their revenge.
Check out Brick Mansions if you like raw hand-to-hand combat. This is another new movie that stars an actor who passed away too soon – Paul Walker. The story takes place in Detroit, where the most dangerous criminals are housed in abandoned mansions left from better times. In order to control the crime, the police build a containment wall around this area to protect the rest of the citizens. Rated PG-13, this movie is packed with action and will be a visual feast if you are a fan of the martial arts.
Finally, for you horror fans - The Quiet Ones is a PG-13 scare-fest that takes place in an estate outside of London. Just a guess, but I don’t think it’s Downton Abbey. A professor takes a group of his students to this mansion to conduct an experiment on a girl who has many hidden hidden secrets – some more terrifying that they expected.
This Friday on the Paul Gallo show, we’ll talk more about these new films and you can hear my rating for Heaven is for Real. Tune in every Friday morning and I’ll keep YOU in the movie loop.
