Spring has sprung – a host of new movies, that is!
New this weekend:
Veronica Mars is based on the popular TV series and hits theaters nearly 10 years after the series debut. Although the series was cancelled in 2007, fans have been asking for more. Producer Rob Thomas wrote a script and launched a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter, along with the film’s star Kristen Bell. The movie picks up as Veronica is about to finish law school. She’s put her investigative past behind her, but is forced back in after she learns her ex-boyfriend has been accused of murder. If you were a fan of the UPN/CW series, you’re going to want to see this. Rated PG-13.
If you are experiencing Jesse withdrawals, Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul stars in Need for Speed. In this action-packed thrill ride, an auto mechanic who is into street racing, is put behind bars for two years after a race turns deadly. He was framed (of course), and spends those two years plotting his revenge. This movie combines really impressive car chases and crashes with a basic and predictable plot. This is your movie if you want to watch some great effects without using too much brain power.
The Single Moms Club is the latest Tyler Perry Production. A diverse group of moms are brought together after their kids are caught vandalizing at school and find common ground when they learn they are all struggling singles. This movie stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, who currently stars on TV’s The Goldbergs, along with Nia Long, Amy Smart and of course, Tyler Perry. Tyler keeps cranking out the movies – he has found the perfect blend of heartbreak, humor, and triumph in every one of them, and this movie is no exception.
