Alligator Season Starts With State Record

DAVIS ISLAND, Miss. – An alligator weighing 826 pounds and measuring 14 feet, one-quarter inch long was caught and killed over the weekend.

According to the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, it’s the first documented alligator in the state to be more than 14 feet long.

Kenny Crechale of Morton along with Ronnie Clifton of Petal made the kill.

A record size alligator had been caught earlier in the day weighing 822 pounds and just over 13 feet, 7 inches long.
