Another Manslaughter Charge for Jackson After Another Crash Victim Dies

KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–The wreck that killed 16-year-old Erica Holifield last Saturday has also killed her stepmom, though she died nearly a week later. Chassie Holifield, 33, died Friday, according to Breezynews.com.

The wreck happened Oct. 26 when police say Nicholas Jackson ran a road block on Hwy. 12 in Kosciusko. Police chased him and he got up to high speeds on Kosciusko’s main drag. He T-boned the Camaro that Chassie Holifield was driving at the three-way-stop intersection of highways 12 and 35. Chassie Holifield, her stepdaughter, 16-year-old Erica, and her son, 10-year-old Jacob, were thrown out of the car.

Erica died at the scene. A three-month-old, who was strapped into a car seat, went relatively unhurt.

Jackson was charged last week with culpable negligence manslaughter. Another count was added after Chassie Holifield died.

Holifield lingered for a week at UMMC in Jackson and suffered a stroke Monday, with bleeding on the brain.
