GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. – A south Mississippi man has been charged with murder after police discovered a burned body in a wooded area of George County.

Detectives were tipped off by a caller Tuesday, who also claimed that the victim had been killed sometime during the past weekend.  The victim’s name was not immediately released pending notification of kin.  His body remains at the state crime lab in Jackson for an autopsy.

Detectives identified Josh Vallum as a suspect and immediately began a search for him.  He turned himself in later that evening. Vallum, 28, is at the regional jail awaiting his initial court appearance.
