Babysitter Could Get Life in Prison for Molesting Young Child

VICKSBURG, Miss.- A mother caught her child’s babysitter molesting her 9-year-old daughter, now the man could face life in prison for the crime.

Prosecutors said Kenny Cordell Stewart, 30, was convicted in Warren County for sexual battery of a child younger than 14 and molestation.

Sexual battery of a child younger than 14 carries a sentence of up to life in prison and molestation carries a sentence of 15 years.

The victim, who was 9 at the time of the abuse is now 11, and testified at the trial.

Police said the girl’s mother caught Stewart molesting the girl on Aug. 2, 2013, and called police. Stewart had been babysitting the girl while the mother was at work.

Stewart will be sentenced Wednesday.
