CANTON, Miss.- The Canton Flea Market is back in town and kicks off tomorrow.

The Canton Flea Market began in 1965 as an art show. Artists would come and hang their works on the fence around the Canton Square. It later turned into one of the most nationally famous markets in the U.S,

It takes place twice a year on the lawn of the historic Madison County Courthouse and draws vendors and exhibitors from all over the country. It is considered one of the largest outdoor craft markets in the country. Over 1,000 artist come, bring their hand crafted goods, and set up shop.

“Oh yeah, we come back every year. I come in the spring and the fall,” said Barbara Vega a potter from Missouri,”This is a really good show and it’s just a beautiful town.”

Another couple, Melonie and David Thompson, vendors for over 23 years, say its the only craft show that they do where people will come out as early as five in the morning just to shop, hang out, and have a good time.
